All treatments provided are safe and non-invasive. Every care is taken to ensure that you’re comfortable, fully at ease and understand what is happening at all times.
When a problem arises due to a lack of movement in any joint, nerve or muscle in your body (mechanical dysfunction), these issues can be treated by applying specific chiropractic manipulations (also known as adjustments) to the affected joints. These adjustments are done by hand and allow your joints to move more freely. In turn, this helps to relieve pain and improves function and mobility.
Soft tissue therapy is another type of manual technique which uses pressure to treat injuries affecting your muscles, tendons and ligaments such as strains and sprains.
In addition to the above your chiropractor can also use techniques including acupuncture, massage, ice and heat.
In order to get you from where you are presently to where you want to be, your care will often include some easy to do exercises and a few do’s and don’ts which are specific to you.
Your recovery route
Your chiropractor will begin by asking a few questions to better understand what brings you in. Is it a minor issue or perhaps something quite significant? Perhaps you’d like a bit of an MOT, a checkup or a second opinion? Whatever the case, the next step is to go a bit deeper into understanding what’s going on in your body. You’ll be asked about any symptoms you’re currently experiencing, your medical history and any relevant lifestyle factors, for example, what you do for a living.
The next stage is the physical exam. Depending on the nature of your appointment, this may involve some nerve tests, joint tests or an assessment of your structure and alignment.
If you require treatment and you’re happy to proceed, this will also be included. In some instances it may be necessary to refer you for some imaging such as x-rays before going any further, however, the referral process is extremely straightforward.
Following your initial assessment, your chiropractor will review all of the information gathered and create what is known as the report of findings. This may be a specific diagnosis, some advice and recommendations or a proposed care plan if you’re seeking treatment.
You will have everything explained to you as clearly as possible and any questions you may have will be answered.
Your plan of care will be based on your specific needs, taking into consideration factors such as the nature of your condition and your personal health goals and expectations. Your treatment frequency is tailored to you, and will always accommodate your lifestyle and daily routines. Your progress will be regularly reassessed and you will be fully involved in the decision making process at every stage.
Many conditions develop over time and can be attributed to issues with your posture or repetitive strain. Chiropractic maintenance is a proactive approach to your care, with the focus on preventing issues from occurring in the first place as opposed to being reactive when you begin to feel pain.
Chiropractic treatment is safe for people of all ages and is just as beneficial to the wellbeing of your babies, children and teenagers as it is for the adults in your family.
